Localization QA Lead (freelance contract)

Overview:

As a Localization QA Lead, you will have extensive expertise in gaming Quality Assurance, testing, and project team management. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the successful execution of QA projects. This involves setting up project files and processes, creating documentation as required, troubleshooting, client communication, and leading the QA project team on a daily basis.


The Localization QA Lead will report to the assigned Localization QA Project Manager.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee assigned Localization QA projects by supervising teams of Localization Games Testers and managing their daily tasks.
  • Develop and refine Test Plans and Test Cases.
  • Facilitate communication between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review and approve bug reports and text edits for quality and completeness.
  • Ensure that team members are properly trained in the necessary tools and technologies for project execution.
  • Mentor and guide new and existing LQA team members.
  • Monitor and maintain project statistics, KPIs, and other metrics, initiating corrective or preventive actions as needed.
  • Communicate and coordinate with clients' Points of Contact as required to ensure all test requirements are clear.
  • Participate in client meetings as required to provide project insights.
  • Ensure that all project work meets the client's quality requirements.

Job requirements

Essential:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to multitask effectively, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Maintain professionalism under tight deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Passion for the video games and translation industries.
  • Knowledge of both current and previous generation consoles, as well as PC.
  • Understanding of digital technologies, including mobile, tablets, and browser tools.
  • Previous experience in Games QA, QC, and testing.

Desired:

  • Experience with software localization or quality assurance
  • Familiarity with different testing methodologies.
  • Experience with game localization.
  • Familiarity with bug tracking databases (e.g.: JIRA, Mantis, etc.) or CAT tools (e.g., SDL Trados, MemoQ, etc.).

Education

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree in computer science, game design, or a related field is a plus, but not required.
